I changed over from my merchant account as the company I was with were thieving sons of bitches, charging fees for this, charging fees for that, even charging a fee for my small business not taking as much as they thought I should take. Sheesh!

I need to be able to take debit payments, which is why I never changed before, but now with this unit, I have at least freed myself of all the fees Moneris has held me at ransom for over the last ten years. Only problem is, as a business providing service, debit payments (not credit) is capped at $100.00 – which makes me look and feel unprofessional. I have to forewarn clients of that, and I hate it when they have to scramble to find another form of payment if they happen to be walk ins or are otherwise unaware. Square say this is about security in case of stolen cards being tapped, but $100.00 – especially Canadian funds – most certainly is not convenient even for a small business. I would love to see this increased – or at least have the ability to insert a debit card into the reader as opposed to tapping to be able to take unlimited amounts – such as other units offer.

The unit itself is attractive, and I wanted the whole point of sale unit, which looks very professional, but I wish I didn’t have to buy a new iPad so as to have all that. But with two iPads, three iPhones, an iMac and an ancient iPod, iAin’t getting any more devices!

For the most part, the reader works just fine . . . Mostly . . . But on rare occasion I have found it refuses to connect no matter how many times I press the little button. They say that when the green lights flash there is enough juice, but I find the only way to not encounter connectivity issues with it is to keep it pretty much constantly plugged into the charger. I also find it necessary to reboot the device I use with it (the mini iPad) after a weekend, otherwise it often won’t connect automatically.

Overall I like and recommend it. I’m happy it was invented.

    Conclusion :

Had this for a month now and it works really good. We use it for farmers markets and it’s really made us more sales. Make sure you take your time to set it up correctly with your proper banking information. You have the option of getting a debit card that gets sent to you upon request. It’s important to note that it does require you to have access to internet even if it’s just your phone data. The directions that come with were easy to follow. Hope you enjoy yours as much as we enjoy ours!

Connected seamlessly and did everything I needed it to do! Very happy with this purchase

So far so good! Easy to use.

Bought this to use for garage sale. Really easy to set up and use, no issues with connection to bank. Highly recommend for simplicity – fees are fine – worth the convenience. Didn’t have technical issues at all.

  8. Yejide

This was easy to set up and it’s very easy to use. It’s also fancy😀 At first, I thought I should return after the first use and use my iPhone but I love it for my small business and it’s definitely worth holding on to
