I was a bit skeptical about the performance and durability of this tool. It is absolutely perfect. Cheese, carrots, cabbage all easy. The big tube allows for realistic amounts and sizes. Not just a cute attachment, it actually saves time, produces what it should and is easy to clean.

I bought this grater hoping it would shred cabbage, however it was not the best quality for the price. The opening to feed the grater is quite small, so I had to cut the cabbage into small pieces in order to feed it through. The grater does not work well part of the food gets stuck in between the parts. I had to use a wooden spoon to take out the grated cabbage, and in the end I just decided to use a knife to cut it up (much easier) I’m assuming this would have worked the same with anything I would try to grate. Not worth it 🙂

Solid, quality components as expected from KitchenAid. Spring loaded release is nuce touch but doesn’t always kick the blade out of the mount if there is some cheese left between blade and drum. Just have to pull it out as you engage the trigger to release it. Time will tell how long it lasts but based on weight and quality feel I’m cautiously optimistic

These attachments have been a huge time saver. They work really well, even on softer cheeses (though popping softer cheese in the freezer for 15-20 or so minutes make grating much easier and less messy). Makes excellent hash browns and much faster and better than a box grater. All of these attachments have handled everything we’ve thrown at them with excellent results. The box they come in is somewhat large and awkward so you may need to store them out of the box if you’re short on space, but that shouldn’t be a deal breaker. Clean up is quick and easy – much easier than cleaning a box grater. I have been a chef for almost 35 years and am currently a private chef. I use these nearly everyday both with my client and in my own home. I think they’re worth every penny.

I’ve been making a lot of carrot cake muffins lately, and was sick to death of shredding carrots. I’d use the mandolin I’ve had in a cupboard for about a decade, but I’m scared of it. Those things are dangerous, man! This mixer attachment is awesome. I would have to really go out of my way to hurt myself, and it grates and slices a lot faster than I can with a box grater. The parts disassemble quickly and easily for cleaning, and the box is perfect for storing unit when it’s not in use.

I absolutely love this attachment. It takes seconds to set up, seconds to shred, and seconds to get in the dishwasher/sink. The graters and the pushers re dishwasher safe, only the housing need to be hand washed. That said, it’s a nice wide opening so super easy to clean up.
I previously bought a KitchenAid food processor and it came with a cheese grater. I found it difficult to use, because cheese would bunch up between the housing and the shredder plate and it would stick. I’d need to take it apart several times just to shred one brick of cheese.
This attachment was a much better experience!! Some cheese does get built up between the wall of the housing and the grater, but it’s very little and doesn’t impact function. We pull it out and add it to the other shredded cheese.
If you’re on the fence, you won’t regret this purchase.
