Chadwick whittington –
2 cans had big dents out of the 5 cans I order. Other than that very good brand and taste and worth the money the two cans with the dents I just threw them away
Karen –
Occasionally order from the US because I love this soup. However this time both cans came dented, and due to Amazon’s return policy, I cannot be refunded as it is not advisable to eat from dented cans due to possible botulism 🙁
Audrey –
When I am anemic I crave tomato based anything and everything. This from now on might just be my go to for tomato basil and I’m saying this as a soup maker myself. Tangy, a very light aroma of basil. Crack some pepper on it as it’s heating up, add some sour cream in it if you’re feeling bold, you won’t be sorry ..can’t beat it.
I do wish there were pull tabs on these for those of us with tremors and hand weakness.
**I’ve also had this with some chopped raw spinach added for that extra boost of iron.
I. Eashop –
I am not a fan of canned soup. The sole reason for purchasing this soup was the pull-tab can as pictured in the product description. Unfortunately, the can I received does require a can opener. The soup itself was okay. There was a good amount of beef, barley & vegetables, although I found the beef had a bit of an odd taste. Maybe I’m spoiled with homemade. I wouldn’t run out to buy this again.
Lolo –
Un mot à dire dégueulasse.. la soupe est pris en bloc elle pu.. immangeable. J’en achète Souvant à l’épicerie et ce n’est jamais comme ça..🤮
Helen Chung –
If you are on the go or want something light to eat it taste really go. I added more ingredients to it like veggies, and some ground chicken. It was even better. Texture wise, it is smooth and was blended well when i open the can
Sylvianne –
Atrypa –
The chicken noodle soup is nice to have when you’re feeling sick, but do not get the butternut squash. It tastes worse than hospital food.
just me –
I like to wait to buy these when on sale. $1.97 CAD per can is a good deal that I’ve seen before, though I’ve also bought these at $2.97 CAD, which also seems to be a fairly decent price point.

REVIEW FOR MEDITERRANEAN LENTIL (5/5):
————————————————————-
Tonight, I was just so tired after a really long day that I really didn’t have it in me to cook anything…or really clean anything, either…So I grabbed a can of this “Mediterranean Lentil” soup, popped open the lid (it’s got a pull-tab, so no can opener required)…poured it all out into a big bowl, and zapped it in the microwave for a few minutes.
So quick and easy…and delicious! I really enjoyed this soup. I scarfed it all down in no time! The flavour is just right and there was no need to add any extra salt or anything like this.
This is a good, convenient, quick & tasty soup…and especially tonight, I was so glad I had it in my cupboard! I’ll probably wait for a sale and order it again. Given how much I enjoyed this soup, I will now also try some other flavours that are offered to see what they are like…
*****
REVIEW FOR CREAMY CHICKEN (4/5):
—————————————————
This flavour is good. It’s certainly creamy with small chunks of potato and small shreds of chicken in it. I like it, but not as much as I enjoy other flavours. I think the creaminess just wouldn’t be my go-to. This is just personal preference, of course. Some people will undoubtedly love this if they like thick, creamy soups and chicken.
In addition to consuming this as a thick soup, you can probably use a can or two as a base if you’re in the mood to make a quick and easy chicken pot pie using pre-made pie crusts. I’d probably add some more chunks of cooked chicken and vegetables, such as carrots, peas and celery in there…and maybe even some cauliflower would be good, too.
********
REVIEW FOR SPICY THAI CHICKEN (1/5):
——————————————————-
I’m not a big fan of this soup. It’s strangely bland even though there are still some bold flavors going on. I’m not even sure how that makes sense, but I feel like it’s missing something….I’m not a big fan of the flavour, in general. You can definitely taste the usual flavors that are found in Thai cuisine (and I generally enjoy Thai food), but for some reason, I’m underwhelmed and disappointed by this soup. Perhaps it would be better if I added a little salt, I’m not sure.
It’s called “spicy”, but it really isn’t spicy, at all. I detect the tiniest bit of spice, but personally, I barely notice it lingering in the background. The soup has a thin creamy aspect to it (though I still find the mouthfeel to be a bit lacking), and there are tiny pieces of cubed chicken as well as rice in it. There’s a slight aftertaste to it that is familiar, but that I can’t quite identify. It reminds me of soap…Perhaps it’s lemongrass, perhaps it’s something else…Or perhaps this really DOES taste like soap. To each their own, but personally, I’m not a big fan of eating soap.
I don’t personally find this soup to be very filling despite the rice. It just doesn’t feel particularly substantial.
Unfortunately, I have two cans left of this soup that I’m not really enthusiastic about. I’ll try adding salt next time, but truthfully, I wouldn’t order this again.
[UPDATE: I tried it again with salt and other spices. It didn’t get better. It just tasted…soapier (if that’s even possible). It’s a hard “NO” for this one. Moved my original 3-star rating down to 1 star. Don’t waste your money or your cupboard space on this one!]
********
REVIEW FOR POTATO BACON (4/5):
————————————————
A couple of times while digging into this soup, I found myself thinking, “This would be great if they added clams to it!” (Eating this soup has now made me crave some good, old fashioned New England Clam Chowder!)
Even without clams, this thicker soup still tastes good. I didn’t have to add salt, which is good…but I wouldn’t have minded if they’d amped up their bacon game in this for more flavour.
Overall, the soup is good. It probably won’t be my go-to soup, but it’s still a decent, quick option for those who enjoy thicker soups. I have 2 more cans left from my Amazon order (minimum 3 cans per order). I’ll certainly enjoy them when I get around to eating them, but to be honest, I probably won’t bother to stock up on these again once done. There are other soup options I’d prefer to try or keep in my pantry.
********
REVIEW FOR TOMATO PARMESAN (4/5):
——————————————————
Thick, smooth, and comforting. VERY heavy on the Parmesan flavour. If you don’t like Parmesan, I’d re-think trying this one. (For some reason, I’m reminded of the sauce that comes in those cans of Chef Boyardee’s mini ravioli. I don’t mean that as an insult, though – I like Chef Boyardee well enough.) This is a soup that is satisfying.
I had it alone, but I know that there are those who MUST have their tomato soup with a grilled cheese sandwich. This would be a good pairing with this soup. This soup is good, but perhaps it’s just nostalgia, but if I had to choose, I’d probably go with Campbell’s Tomato Soup over this one…That one is a bit thinner in consistency with no parmesan (and you have to add water)…but I think it’s easier on the palate and just a bit more versatile. But that might just be familiarity and my childhood nostalgia speaking…
This is still a good soup as far as the Tim Horton’s lineup goes.
********
REVIEW FOR MINESTRONE (5/5):
———————————————
Pull-tab lid. Poured it out into a bowl and nuked it in the microwave for 3 minutes, and then gobbled it up in 2. (I suppose I was hungry?) I enjoyed this soup. The flavour was good without having to add anything to it. You can, of course, add hot sauce or freshly-cracked pepper if you want to give it a kick…But I didn’t really feel the need to do so this time. I might consider adding some hot sauce next time, though. The soup has a nice even consistency and mouthfeel, with small chunks of “stuff” in it – pasta shells, beans, veg, etc. I wouldn’t say it was laden with chunks – it’s not a heavily chunkified soup and perhaps not as hearty as perhaps a Campbell’s chunky soup – but it was still enough for me.
I like this soup. It’s one of the better Tim Hortons canned soups that I’ve tried so far. I will get it again when it’s on sale.
*****
REVIEW FOR TOMATO, BASIL & ORZO (5/5):
———————————————————-
This soup is delicious – No need to add any salt or any additional seasoning. There might not be much to this soup visually or even texture-wise…But that’s okay with me. It more than makes up for it in flavour. Aside from the occasional tiny chunk of unblended tomato (and the orzo, of course), this soup is velvety smooth with a hint of creaminess to it. The flavour is on-point, though I can’t say I detected too much basil (but I’m pretty bad at identifying specific ingredients/flavours)…and I have to say that I actually like this one a LOT better than the “Tomato Parmesan” soup…and would recommend eating this soup with your grilled cheese sandwich over that one.
I wouldn’t say that this was laden with orzo, but it still had enough of the rice-shaped pasta to satisfy me without making me feel too full…..And, of course, you can’t beat the convenience of being able to nuke it in the microwave for a quick meal or snack! (This can didn’t have the easy pull-tab lid, though.)
This is one of the better canned soups that I’ve tried from the Tim Hortons lineup. I will definitely buy this again.
*****
REVIEW FOR BUTTERNUT SQUASH (4/5):
——————————————————-
The taste is just fine – I didn’t add salt, though some might choose to add a couple shakes for extra oomph. The soup has an ever-so-slightly thinner consistency than I was hoping for. The result is that I found this soup to be not filling enough for my soup needs. I deducted a star because of that. I prefer my soups to be filling enough to eat on their own because if I’m opening a can and nuking it in the microwave, chances are I’m being too lazy to actually cook or prepare a proper meal and I just want something quick and easy. For this particular butternut squash soup, though, I feel like you can only really eat it as a light side dish. You’ll likely want to eat a main meal with it, such as a sandwich or something that will actually satiate you.
********
REVIEW FOR BEEF, BARLEY & VEGETABLE (4/5):
—————————————————————-
This did not have a pop-top lid, so I had to use a can opener to open it. The flavour is where it should be – It’s very tasty with good beefy flavour – but I was a little disappointed in the sense that it didn’t feel filling enough. For any beefy kind of soup, I was expecting it to be heartier, chunkier and more filling….But then, I suppose Tim Hortons canned soups, in general, don’t really seem to be that chunky. But still, I wish it was a tad disappointed that this didn’t fill me up. Right after eating this, I ended up fixing myself a good, meaty & cheesy sandwich.
I still like this soup, but just wish it had more substance to it…The chunks of processed beef were much too small, and the veg and barley were not enough. I took a star off for that. However, because I like the beefy flavour, I’ll probably still try to always keep a can in my pantry…Just in case…
********
REVIEW FOR CHICKEN NOODLE SOUP (3/5):
————————————————————
This wasn’t bad – It was just a little blander than I would prefer. It needed salt or SOMETHING. It wasn’t as “comforting” as I’d want my chicken noodle soup to be. I find Campbell’s chicken noodle soup (the longer noodle version that we all grew up with as kids) to be more flavorful. That’s why this “adult” version from Tim Hortons was disappointing and left much to be desired. I’m sure that there are some who would be perfectly fine with this version, but for me, I don’t think I’d bother purchasing this again…There are other soups from this lineup that I’d re-order again, instead.
In addition to the somewhat underwhelming flavour, I found that the bits and pieces in it (i.e., the pasta shells, chicken bits, and bits of veg.) were not enough to fill me up. The chunks to liquid ratio was highly in favour of the liquid. Again, in this respect, Campbell’s chicken noodle soup (kids’ version) actually feels more substantial than this.
I am rating this one 3/5 stars because I have higher expectations when it comes to a chicken noodle soup…But I’m sure there are some who might give it 4 stars because it’s basic and probably easy to eat if you’re feeling under the weather…
