I dropped a star as most of these intant read thermometers will turn on when you open them. This one requires you to press the power button. Slightly inconvenient as this takes two steps. Otherwise it is accurate and well made. Easy to read and pretty quick to read the temperatuer , although it does take a bit to settle at the highest temperature as the probe heats up.
