The main thing about this charger is that it supports 48A / 240V electrical power that allows for very fast charging. This is a good level 2 charger. I like that it is not hard wired, it simply plugs into an outlet like a dryer outlet. It provides a very quick charge when compared to a level one charger. It is pretty sleek looking, and functions well with the app. This is a great option for EV charging!

This EV charger from Tessan has the fastest available home charging speeds for Level 2 AC charging. It can support 240V at 48 Amps, providing a very powerful charging speed of up to 11.5kW if the vehicle supports it. Even if your EV does not support this high charging rate, The Tessan charger will allow your installation to be futureproof and ready for faster charging vehicles in the future.

The charging station supports both indoor and outdoor installation. With its IP65 rating, it can support outdoor installations safely. It uses the standard SAE J1772 connector which the vast majority of EVs support. Installation should be done by an electrician, and it has clear instructions as well as a wall template to ensure that the holes are drilled in the right spot. I chose the hardwired one as it supports the highest charging speed and it will be a simple replacement for my older Chargepoint charger. There are models with NEMA plugs of various types as well. The station is much larger than my Chargepoint charger, and it takes more room because the charger holder is a separate piece that needs to be drilled to the wall. I actually prefer this to my Chargepoint one because the port has worn out but it is not a separate piece to replace. The Tessan station is entirely made of thick, dense plastic. The charging cable is 25 feet long which is perfect for my driveway. I can park my car facing the charger or away from it, and the cable is long enough to reach without issues. Any excess cable can be wrapped around the charger. I also like that the charger has a rubber plug that can be used to protect the charger’s connectors. There is a recommended app to be used, but it is not from Tessan. The app requires registering an account, and allows keeping track of the charger’s state and scheduling charging sessions. The app can support multiple chargers on the same account. The charger has safety built in, including short-circuit protection, over-current, over-voltage, under-voltage and is also fire resistant. I highly recommend this charger for the extremely fast charging rates that supports the latest EVs, and for its long cable that can handle most driveways.
