Pros: 1. Performance – all my games, including MSFS and the new Arc Raiders that came because of the nVidia RTX-5070 Ti card, are maxed out on a 4K monitor.
2. Chassis looks like it was designed to accommodate one of those right angle PCI-E bus extenders that allow you to mount your video card vertically rather than horizontal on the MB to improve natural airflow. Doesn’t seem to matter much to the RTX-5070Ti it came with based on temperatures I’ve seen so far but if you go to a bigger faster hotter card you might want to do that.
3. Four M.2 slots on the MB, one reserved for the system SSD, and 3 available.

5. It is colorful – but not annoying! The default settings for the RGB fans can be mesmerizing. Cons: 1. To-date – nothing Overall Review: The first thing that struck me, besides the large array of colorful lights from the fans to the RAM, was how quiet the machine was overall.
This is the only the second pre-built relatively high end PC I’ve purchased for myself, having custom built a dozen of so PCs for myself since 1981. I’ve purchased plenty of off-the-shelf PCs for my wife and kids over the years, but for myself I can recall only a 286 machine that I bought new to support my consulting business back in 1984. So it was a big step to trust someone to provide a quality machine at a fair and competitive price.
So far, I haven’t been disappointed in the least. This is a well constructed and assembled product that is quite a step up from my current custom machine, an ASROCK Z97 Extreme 6 with an I7-4790K and a GTX1070 built in 2017.

I bought the machine largely for one purpose – I miss flying airplanes and had bought MSFS back in 2020 hoping it wouldn’t stagger my then only 3 year old system – but it did. I did a lot of flying on a triple monitor system with most MSFS features turned down – which sort of worked but I didn’t have the visual feel I was looking for. So I was somewhat disappointed but couldn’t justify buying a whole new PC because my old system still ranked up in the top 90% until a couple of years ago for doing most things, even video editing in HD and 3D design and modeling in Fusion 360 and all the single player FPS games I liked.
I’m retired and while I have plenty of time to build a new PC, I irrationally believe I’ve used up all of my luck and patience building my own stuff so I decided to try an off-the-shelf system buy. I’ve spent months looking around trying to find the right performance/cost balance, weighing the relative merits of processor and graphics card families from AMD and Intel and nVidia and using a budget of around $2K. Most of my custom builds over last almost 20 years, were using parts bought from Newegg. So after looking at many custom build sites, including Newegg and the many others out there I ran across this offering from Stormcraft which had all the necessary parts in a cabinet I thought I could live with.
I ordered it on the 16th, with a promised delivery date of 10/20 but was actually delivered on 10/18. I opened the box and saw how well-packed it was, included a plastic-covered custom foam bag inside the chassis to help keep all the parts in place.
The machine I received had an MSI Pro Z790-A Wifi motherboard with an MSI RTX-5070 TI graphics card. 6 RGB fans and an RGB coolant pump and even RGB lighting on the 2 RAM sticks.
The assembly process included a careful arrangement of the wiring, including tucking extra lengths of wiring into appropriate locations to avoid dangling cables. All wiring from the power supply to the motherboard is routed through grommeted openings on the motherboard mounting plate behind the motherboard on the left side of the chassis viewed from the rear making for a very clean-looking visible interior viewed through the glass side cover on the right side, again viewed from the back.
After firing it up and going through the setup of Windows 11 Home, including hooking it into my home LAN with NAS boxes and shared drives, all of which went smoothly despite my predisposition to hate Microsoft and their baseless assumptions of what people really need and how they work, I decided to add another 2TB NVME M.2 SSD to the system. That was pretty straightforward but not without issues.
I have larger than average hands, and trying to install an M.2 SSD in the narrow space between the video card and the top of the Power supply housing where the 2 easy to get to M.2 slots were, resulted in my dropping one of the 3 provided M.2 mounting screws though the holes in the top of the power supply portion of the chassis below the MB. I knew I should have put a cloth or other cover over those holes BEFORE I started that effort. Anyway – some lessons you just get to relearn frequently. I retrieved the screw after loosening the power supply to maneuver it to where I could entice the screw out – but Murphy’s law prevails and in doing so I accidentally unplugged the RGB controller for which I had to take the left side (from the back) cover and replace the power connection to the fan RGB controller.
Overall, I’d definitely buy a box like this one again. It’s a basic utilitarian chassis with future expansion capability and is assembled and shipped carefully with solid parts. I had occasion to contact Stormcraft support due to issues with online product registration – their registration software hasn’t caught up to currently shipping model numbers yet. But their tech support contacted me within a couple of hours via chat and we resolved the problem quickly. Very personable tech support apparently in California and speaking clear English and technically knowledgable. Very happy so far!
