I was actually interested in the ECOFLOW River 2 model but it won’t arrive in time and the price is higher. At the time, DarenEner 300W+1192Wh model had a sale on at very good price, so I decided to try it. It has a very high build quality at first impression and it is equivalent or even higher than the River 2 model. After charging it from 77% to 100% capacity (20 minutes), I decided to put it to the test as the role of a UPS for my computer system. The digital display provides a simple but complete necessity information about the unit. I connected a 24″ LED monitor and a MiniPC to the AC port and then I unplugged the AC cord of the Portable Power Unit to the wall plug! The battery kicks in without delay at all and judging by the information provided, this unit will power my monitor and PC for 9 hours even without grid power!!! I don’t know about the longevity of this unit yet but so far, I am VERY satisfied with its build and performance. HIGHLY recommended it as a UPS/off Grid unit.

If you’re just tooling around with a simple off-grid setup of a couple smaller panels that you’d like to put in parallel for higher wattage (or something like 2S2P), these cables should work fine. A quick summary of my impressions:

+ Standard MC4 connectors that don’t require a tool to release the cables, yet secure tightly
+ Pretty good price for two pairs of cables. Each pair allows you to parallel two panels or strings, so two pairs allows you do that twice.
+ Quality seems good enough for smaller systems with modest current

– All the cables are black. It would be less confusing if they came in black and red like many other kits
– Not UL listed. This would not pass code/inspection when used in a grid-tied setup.
– Molded parallel connectors (vs cables) are generally more reliable than cables
– A 10AWG cable would be more versatile, allowing up to 30A instead of 20A; for all intents and purposes you’re limited to two (2P) or four (2S2P) setups with this cable
– The cable is pretty stiff. This could make it harder to use depending on your panel and wiring geometry

3.5/5 stars. There’s nothing wrong with these cables, but it’s definitely a budget version. I’d feel confident using this for my small 100W 2P or 2S2P setup where the current is going to be limited to ~15A or less, but personally I would not use it with larger panels that have higher current output.

The output is 300w, that’s ok for the price… but beware: the input is only 90w so if you use it like a battery backup, make sure you are using less than 90w, otherwise it will discharge faster than it can charge.

I needed to connect 3 x 100w solar panels on my camper and these were perfect. The standard is for the positive wire coming from the solar panel to be a male connector and the negative to be female. That arrangement stays the same all of the way through the circuit. This set comes with two pair of positive and negative wyes. One pair will connect two panels, two pair will connect 3 panels, etc. They are rated for 20 amps which is perfect for me. The solar panels each put out a little over 5 amps at about 16V so my 3 panels will not exceed 20 amps. (Don’t make the mistake of dividing watts by 12 volts – the solar charging voltage going into a nominal 12v charge controller is more like 16V. In my case 300W/12V=25 amps but 300W/16V=18.75 amps) I have 10 gauge wire running from the combined panels down the short run into my camper so there should be minimal voltage drop. Of course with everything being standard lengths I ended up with some wire spaghetti that I had to corral and attach to the support frame with cable ties. The only trouble I had was with a couple of the males not clicking into the mating connectors on the harness. I took a utility knife and shaved a small amount off the edge on the female connector that engages the prong and it clicked together fine. That small defect was on the mating connectors – not the connectors on this product.

I plan on doing several more solar projects.

Everything appears and feels like a decent-mid quality.

Tested all the connectors and also for continuity on all ends.
Looks to be well suited for what I want to use them for.

Not sure I could suggest them to anyone who would be connecting a large number of panels say over six or more, or more than four at any real distance. Wire does not feel very thick and you should be using a much larger gauge after it which would make it resistant and at danger of heat loss & melting.

I’m talking about 100-200 watt 12v or 300 watt+ 24v panels
