OLEVS has been making watches for a while now, all with varying prices and styles, and this one is really their bread and butter. A casual, but beautiful dress watch that strikes the perfect balance between “I’m going out tonight” and “I’ll wear this one to work today.” The watch itself is perfect, and by that I mean the design and function work exactly as they should. It keeps time perfectly, the date function works perfectly, it just..works how it should, just like all of their other watches.

Passed the “splash” test with flying colors. I can wash dishes with it, wash my hands, and have no problems. No water made it past the crown, but keep in mind, the leather (not genuine leather) strap does hold moisture, so that may uncomfortable for you. I have large wrists, 9 3/4 inches, so the strap wouldn’t fit me. I was able to swap it for a 20mm NATO style strap, though, also black leather. It works great, and looks gorgeous. Date rolls over properly at midnight, no getting stuck halfway between dates or anything like some other watches.

In the era of smart watches and everything being rechargeable, this is a great alternative to just cut out some of the noise of modern life. It tells the time, tells the date, and look great doing it. Excellent watch.

I have quite a few watches – some inexpensive and some very costly. No matter the price they all have good and bad qualities.

This OLEVS mens watch is a nice edition to my collection, especially at $36. The watch uses quartz movement and is nicely sized for a medium to small wrist. It has a leather band with a reptilian style embossing. The watch face is a rich blue color with silver hour markings and silver hands making for easy reading. There is also a date window at the 3 o’clock position.

The only negative I have about the watch is the date/time setting pin. The pin actually has three positions – run, date set, time set. The problem is the 2nd position in that it is difficult to locate. You pull the pin and you’re at position 3, push and you’re back at 1. You have to play around with it, instead of feeling it click into place.

Overall, 4 stars.

At around $50, you cannot expect too much from this watch. However, it does have an appealing face, with the classy roman numerals at 12 and 6, the pointy design of the hour and minute hands and the elegant blue hue of the dial. But, the light weight of the watch and the glossy faux-alligator strap do betray its cheap origin. My main gripe is how loud the ticking of watch is. You can still hear it even with music playing and in a silent room, some may find it quite annoying.

Very classy looking watch, simple and comfortable to wear. Face display is a good size, easy to read. Goes well with both formal and casual wear. Very nice gift idea.
