The Melitta Natural Brown #2 Cone Filters fit my coffee maker perfectly and keep grounds out of the cup. The filters hold up well to brewing and do not tear or collapse. I appreciate that they are compostable and bleach-free, which makes them feel like a better choice for the environment.

I’ve been using these filters for pour-over coffee for about five years now, and I would say they are the best for that purpose. There is a small failure rate to them, I would say 1 in about 25, rips open from the bottom or side due to poor stitching, but overall, these are very high quality, and I reorder every two months like clockwork.

If you’re like most of us, you read the 1 star ratings first, and you’ll read all about ‘faulty’ filters.
If you’re having issues with some of the filters coming apart this is probably why: The filters are held together with a crimp, not wood glue. Coffee is meant to be brewed at 185 to 200 degrees F, so boiling water may be partly responsible. BUT in YouTube videos of coffee nerd/afficionados making great coffee you’ll see that the filters are FOLDED along the seams on reverse sides before inserting in the cone. The folded filter fits the cone and works perfectly. Every time.
