Okay, listen… this Magegee keyboard has me typing like a maniac just for fun! 😍 For only $35 CAD, I feel like I scored an absolute gem!! First off, the build quality is WOW. It has a sleek metal case that gives it such a premium feel, I had to double-check the price because it looks and feels way more expensive. When I unboxed it, It came with extra red keys (hello, customization!!) and a super handy key removal tool👌The lighting effects OMG the wave mode is hypnotizing!! Every time I type, the backlight ripples outward like I just dropped a pebble into a pond. It’s seriously magical ✨ and makes typing feel like a full blown experience. Add some lo-fi music, and it’s a whole vibe. The clickiness of the keys If you’re like me and love that satisfying clack-clack sound, this thing delivers it. Every key press feels SO good 🥹💅 Honestly, for this price point UNREAL. I am seriously blown away. The only thing I haven’t figured out yet is how to lock the Fn key to use the secondary functions without holding it down… but let’s be real that’s probably a me thing, not a keyboard issue. 😅

I bought this as a replacement for my old keyboard, which started having problems with unresponsive keys. I like this keyboard, and it had no issues when new. However, the S key and maybe one or two others have started developing the same problem. I’ve taken good care of it. Another issue is that the second set of keycaps fits poorly, making key presses noticeably worse. I’d suggest just sticking with the original color scheme the keyboard comes with.

This is one of those products that’s cheap, and you can really tell.

Pros:

– Mechanical switches.
– Backlit.

Cons:

– Very poor key switch quality; inconsistent feel / tactile feedback / click per key.
– Switches are non-replaceable.
– Switches fail quickly.
– Terrible design makes cleaning extremely difficult, the raised lip along the outer edges are the main culprit.

Conclusion:

You may be tempted by its low price, but there’s a reason it’s so cheap. It is a low quality, badly designed, unit. Not recommended.

Good keyboard, gives you the feel of old days before the advent of GUI based OS when there used to be the bulky TVS 128 keys keyboard and all the navigation was done using Tab, PgUp, PgDn, Arrow keys, etc.

My ‘Paisa Wasool’ moment came when I was booking an Indian Railways ticket through IRCTC during peak holiday rush, those who have tried to book during the same period will understand, and to my surprise I was able to book a confirmed ticket within one minute of the window opening time. Note: I did not use the mouse during the whole process.

It is heavy and holds it ground no matter how hard you punch the keys and thanks to the rubber pads at the base it does not slip even the slightest even at highly inclined table surface. The keys are soft and respond to the slightest touch with minimal pressure. The only con that I found that the left shift key sometimes got stuck, which was resolved by replacing the grey key cap with the red one that was provided among the extra key caps.

Some people might not like the colour or the lighting effects or other aesthetics, but remember that this is not an artifact but a robust piece of hardware, and it serves this purpose well indeed.

Great Value for the Price!

This keyboard performs surprisingly well for its price range. The volume adjustment functionality works smoothly (which is quite important for me as a heavy classical music listener), and the overall build quality feels solid and firm in hand. Sometimes something heavy is very nice! It give me a false sense of security 😆

When it arrived, a about half of the keycaps had come loose during shipping, but they were easy to reattach and haven’t caused any issues since—just a minor inconvenience.

I appreciate the USB 3.0 connection; it’s fast and reliable, which suits my setup perfectly. The keyboard is very user-friendly and simple to get used to.

Red keycaps; They look nice, but I opted not to use them since they don’t allow light to shine through, which reduces visibility in low/high light settings.

Overall, a great buy for budget-conscious gamers or anyone looking for a quality mechanical keyboard without breaking the bank.
