I noticed LEVOIT is receiving overwhelming positive reviews and consistently recommended in many current top product lists from various mainstream & independent sources; of particular interest, their affordable Core 300 that is frequently touted as best budget performer. So I purchased the pet specific Core P350 variation with its new premium odor removing “Core P350-RF High-Efficiency Activated Carbon Filter” instead of the Core 300 original filter (more about filters later, it’s the only reason I cannot rate 5-stars). If you prefer black or white models you could buy the standard Core 300 then the upgraded replacement filter later; model color & stock filter are the only difference.

First impressions don’t reveal everything… which for me were great by the way, but this type of product needs time to accurately assess real value. Fit & finish is excellent; the engineered quality is obvious from the moment you unpack it. A breeze to setup in three steps: unwrap filter, plug in, power on, then let it do its thing. Advanced controls are there for those who want them. All features are well described in the manual and as shown on the product page.

Now that I’ve used for a while I can make a few observations… getting right to the point it lives up to the favorable hype. Effective and efficient. Maximum fan is powerful but loud; it fully cycles air in the room within a couple of hours and noticeably improves air quality fast. Reduced fan speeds are usually all that’s needed, then normal operation gets nice & quiet, and the lowest is nearly silent yet still effective. Fans ramp up smoothly; again this a sign of smart engineering, not just a voltage switch. Sitting on the floor the pre-filter picks up a lot of floating pet hairs that you can simply vacuum off whenever you want. The included pet filter does a good job neutralizing any room odors.

Filters are a topic of their own. The genuine filters are superb & long lasting (by reputation); should only need replacement once or twice yearly in most homes. A replacement Core P350-RF filter is reasonably priced ($45.99 at this time). And yet, availability is presently concerning; I don’t know what is happening but the supply of genuine filters by LEVOIT seems limited. Off brand replacements are flooding Amazon although I have no idea of their true quality; if the wording is “compatible with…” it’s probably a clone (for good or bad), read the headers carefully. So really there are two issues: out of stock official products, and many unofficial filters. That said, genuine replacements ($30-$50 per unit seems average) are always available somewhere; whether it be direct, online, or Walmart and other retailers. Visit the official LEVOIT Store on Amazon or web search “LEVOIT Air Purifier Replacement Filter for Core P350” — which actually gave me better direct link results for amazon.ca than Amazon’s search did. I sincerely hope the Amazon supply issue is temporary, but the massive amount of copycat filters is both alarming & confusing to us the customers.

Works really well, and I love that it comes with an app. It can get a bit loud when the fan is on the highest setting, but I’m happy to have clean, purified air.
