I’ve been running the Gigabyte Z790 Eagle AX as the heart of my current build, and it’s honestly one of the best value Z790 boards out there, usually sitting around $220-250, it delivers everything you need without the premium price hike of the Aorus lineup.
Installation was a breeze from start to finish. All the headers and connections are right where you’d expect them, front-panel audio, USB, fans, RGB, everything is clearly labeled and easy to reach. The layout feels super thoughtful, with plenty of space around the socket for my Thermalright contact frame to drop in perfectly without any clearance issues or awkward screw alignments. Zero complaints there, it just worked flawlessly on the first boot.
Performance has been rock-solid too. The twin 12+1+1 phase digital VRM keeps things stable even with power-hungry 13th/14th gen Intel CPUs under load, no throttling, tight voltage regulation, and it runs surprisingly cool with the beefy heatsinks. DDR5 support is strong (up to high speeds with XMP), and you’ve got PCIe 5.0 x16 for your GPU, multiple M.2 slots (with thermal guards), Wi-Fi 6E + Bluetooth 5.3, 2.5GbE LAN, and a solid rear I/O packed with USB options including Gen2x2 Type-C. Q-Flash Plus is a lifesaver for BIOS updates without needing a CPU installed, and the EZ-Latch features make swapping GPUs or M.2 drives effortless.

No boot issues, no weird POST glitches, and it’s been completely stable through heavy gaming, productivity, and stress tests. The BIOS is straightforward (especially after updates), and Gigabyte’s software for fan/RGB control integrates nicely.
If you’re building around LGA 1700 and want a reliable, feature-packed Z790 without overspending, the Eagle AX is a no-brainer. Great support for everything modern, easy to work with, and zero regrets, highly recommended for anyone chasing solid performance on a budget!

My motherboard was defective right out of the box, but it took too long for me to collect the rest of the parts for my build and I didn’t discover the defect until after the return window had expired so now my only option is to deal with gigabyte directly. Their customer service is useless, and will not replace the motherboard with a new one so I will be stuck with a refurbished board for the price of a new one . I feel abandoned by the 30 day return policy and for parts like these it needs to be longer.

Logiciel bien simple pour le contrôle des éclairages avec les connecteurs bien situés. Montage facile, carte solide, marché du 1er coup. Updates des drivers facile avec leurs applications, j’en suis même surpris.

Easy installation and hook up. Runs with my Intel core i5 CPU. BIOS flashed without RAM and CPU installed. Great ATX motherboard for budget conscience buyers.
