ELEGOO Upgraded Electronics Fun Kit w/Power Supply Module, Jumper Wire, Precision Potentiometer, 830 tie-Points Breadboard for Arduino, Raspberry Pi, STM32

Totally lovely kit, perfect for the beginner who wants to knock together a few circuits with their Arduino or Raspberry Pi. It offers one huge benefit to the dabbler over other similar kits: organization.

All components are carefully bagged, most of them bagged separately, with combined bags pretty logical (22pf and 104 pf capacitors are in the same bag)

Resistors are labelled in a neat hand on their paper strips if you haven’t learned the color codes yet.

Transistors and Integrated Circuits are all listed on the little part sheet with their part number, so it’s easy to google them.

The cute little box stays shut with a satisfying *snap* and is secure tossed into a toolbox.

A breadboard power supply is included, though as others have noted not required 6-15v input power adapter, These adapters should be widely available. I grabbed a 9v and 12v ac adapter from my local goodwill and it performed beautifully. If you need a full datasheet for this poweradapter, just search the part number ‘545043’ and you can find all the info you’ll need.

This is an entirely solderless kit, with all the parts working perfectly with a breadboard.

Note that if you’re trying to do hardware hacking with a Raspberry Pi, this kit also includes some socket-to-prong cables, making your life a *lot* easier when connecting to its onboard pins.

While this kit includes every part you might need to do your first hardware hacking, you might consider picking up a cheap multimeter and a few power-supply AC adaptors or battery boxes in addition.

Love in a box

I got this kit sometime in December last year, not only for personal enjoyment but for usage in one of my high school courses (Computer Engineering Technology). It was the first hobby electronics kit I bought and fast-forward to here and now, I can easily say it’s been of the best kits I ever had.

The components received were reliable to work with and continue to be very versatile to use in your circuits. Whenever I had an inquiry or issue, customer service was always eager to help me find a solution. I had no issue with the breadboard and I personally found it better than the ones supplied by my high school. Interesting IC chips as well!

One thing that you should do when getting this kit is to look for the online guide found on Elegoo’s website. That should help you get a better idea of where to start with your new components, especially with the ICs. In fact, I’d also recommend that you pair this kit with a microcontroller such as an Elegoo Arduino. That’s where the possibilities start to widen massively.

Critiques are that it may be hard to think of where to start with the kit and that I haven’t found much of a reason to use the ceramic capacitors yet. Also, I’d recommend adding an NE 555 timer IC as it’s easy to use and building circuits with them already involve the included components AND an IC socket or two to help make removing the included ICs easier and safer to do (less prone to damaging the IC).

This was my first ever electronics kit and within a few months I had most of it utilized by my projects. Everything received in the kit is mentioned in the product description so this review will only go over the best items that I really liked about the kit.
1. The resistors that were labelled with their respective values so I wasted no time in finding the correct ones
2. The 5/3 V supply module that made me able to generate DC current while connecting it to my PC (USB male to male sold separately)
3.The Male to female jumper cables are perfect for connecting this to my analogue discovery signal generator
4. The male to male jumper cables are best for working on my breadboard during prototyping
5. The nicely stripped wires came in handy when i was finalizing my project and it turned out to be very aesthetic

During the first few days of using this kit I accidentally burned out the RED LEDs because I wasn’t aware they had a different rating as compared to the other ones. Elegoo took no time to ship me a replacement. Best
