I recently discovered that I’m sensitive to dairy and peas, which made finding a suitable protein powder a challenge—especially since most non-dairy options contain pea protein.

I wasn’t expecting much, but I was pleasantly surprised by how good this protein powder tastes. I actually really enjoy it! It’s unfortunate how pricey it is.

The only downside is that it blends quite thick. I switched from almond milk to water to thin it out, but it didn’t make much of a difference. I’ve also noticed that if I don’t drink it right away, the consistency becomes a bit strange.

It would be great if people shared their favorite recipes in the reviews so others could experiment! Personally, I’ve been mixing it with water and frozen berries or strawberries. If you’re a fan of the Bananas-A-Whey smoothie from Booster Juice, try blending it with frozen bananas—it’s delicious.

Looking forward to trying the chocolate flavor next!

I’ve tried like 15+ and always have had to return and it’s even more difficult cause I cannot have normal whey due to dairy allergy and even pea protein bothers me. This one tastes great and does not hurt my stomach at all. Highly recommend!!!

Great product, just overly pricey compared to anything comparable. I haven’t tried mixing with water yet, but with almond milk is challenging to mix with a spoon, you need a proper mixing container with the metal stirring spring, or lots of patients. 😋😋

I’m using my boyfriend’s account to write this review. I normally don’t write reviews but I wasn’t happy with this product or the company so here it is:

I was looking for a protein powder made fro HydroBEEF. There are two brands at the moment: PurePaleo and Ultimate Paleo. When comparing both of these with the info. from their websites I was more attracted the Ultimate Paleo one because they have an unflavoured/unsweetened option. I’ve never used protein powders before but I knew that I wanted one that I could mix with anything and not be limited by their flavour. Unfortunately the unflavoured Ultimate Paleo was out of stock at the moment and I decided to give PurePaleo in vanilla a try. This was a hard decision to make because these powders are expensive and I’ve never tried hem before.

When my PurePaleo arrived I made a simple shake with oats, raspberries, coconut milk and the protein powder. Right away, I did not like the taste. It’s too strong on the vanilla and it tastes artificial. Perhaps its the stevia that tastes artificial but the flavour is unpleasant to me and it also has an unpleasant lingering after-taste. I have to say, I’m sorry I did not wait for the unflavoured Ultimate Paleo to become available again.

I contacted the company to request a return and this was their response: “I am very sorry that this product was not what you were looking for! Unfortunately, we are unable to accept the return of opened items but I would be happy to offer a 10% discount should you like to try a different product that we carry”. Nice of them to offer me a discount but I do not need any other of their products. I just want to return this one. (If they allow me to return it I will update my review).

So,It looks like the unflavoured Ultimate Paleo is back in stock now. They make two sizes. One is same as PurePaleo for similar price and the other is half the size. I only see the unflavoured one in the smaller size and it’s more expensive, but perhaps they will stock the bigger/cheaper one soon. I’m attaching the link:

Excellent. Doesn’t bloat like whey protein powder.

This was recommended to me by a naturopath for its Paleo and allergen free ingredients. It did not disappoint. Best tasting protein powder and smells good too! It mixes best with a blender or a hand mixer. Can’t wait to try the chocolate one.

Vanilla taste is very good (and I normally don’t like vanilla!) – I mix it with my Ryze mushroom coffee as a creamer! I have no problem with clumping at all – I put it in a jar and shake it around. (See pic) No blender bottle needed. It does create some foam, depending on how hard you shake it, but you can drink the foam. I’m also pleased with the creamy taste without the need for a bunch of oils like other brands use to create the creamy taste! I haven’t experienced any bloating issues at all with it.

This is an amazing alternative to whey and pea etc. protein based protein powders. It’s expensive, but worth it. I like the vanilla flavor, but the chocolate is even better. I love to stir it into yogurt (non dairy). I don’t like the taste of the unflavored version at all. I am so happy I chose to stick it out and try the vanilla and chocolate instead!

    Love it, just expensive.

I originally did not like this product and gave it one star. I didn’t like the taste of the vanilla, did not like how it clumps, and was mildly queasy contemplating what hydrolized beef might be. I now give it 4 stars.

First, the chocolate is better than the vanilla in my opinion.

Second, I read that a little MCT oil will stop the clumping and that’s true! It’s a game changer.

Third, I like that the hydrolized beef has a little collagen in it. Plus it doesn’t make me bloat like whey protein.

Bottom line, I’ve come to like this protein supplement. I mix it with creatine, fiber prebiotic powder, and another protein powder for 45-55 gram shakes. Sometime I add homemade kefir too.

I have been using this protein powder in my morning smoothie for about a year now, after first hearing Chris Kresser mention the product in his podcast. I just wasn’t hungry in the mornings and I knew I needed a way to start my day with some good calories (i.e. protein and fat, minimal carbs). Add to that an intolerance to dairy protein (the problem for me is really casein, but I also wanted to avoid whey if possible), and this powder was exactly what I needed.

It took some fiddling with the smoothie recipe, but now it consistently blends well with the other ingredients. If you try to mix it with just water, it’s quite possible that you get the “soup” with chunks of protein floating around. It tastes okay that way but doesn’t really look appetizing. The trick is to add some fat to the mix – MCT oil is what I use, along with a couple raw eggs. Then maybe a super greens kind of supplement (chocolate flavored works best with this vanilla protein powder) and occasionally some unmodified potato starch (resistant starch!). Then I blend in the Magic Bullet. It’s actually super tasty, and now I look forward to ‘breakfast’ every morning.

Yes, the price is pretty steep, but this is high quality stuff. And one canister will last several weeks of daily use. I use a dose and a half (i.e. 3 tablespoons) each morning, and I get about 3 weeks of smoothies out of it. If you only use the standard dose, there are 30 servings per canister. 27g (1 serving) of high quality protein for breakfast every morning for a month for ~$80 = $2.66 per breakfast. That’s downright affordable.

my favorite protein powder. It taste good unlike any other. I’ve tried. I think I’m on my fifth bottle so good.
