This is the fifth Asus motherboard I used to build a system. The board is pretty stable, with no problems. But, Asus has cut a lot of corners on there motherboards. The documentation is very poor. The pamphlet that came with the board is only about 4 pages. The PDF off of the website is not much better. Very little explanation on the BIOS. The board lacks a lot of features their old boards have. All and all, I am satisfied!

I cannot give this product 5 or even 4 stars. Yes, it has many nice features of the X870 Chipset; and yes, its headers and I/O are very well-labeled. Yes, it’s UEFI BIOS is very clean, and it is very easy to install BIOS updates with a USB-flash drive. However, there are definitely a number of issues that I think make this below the quality I expect out of an X870E motherboard.

1) When changing the RAM’s operating frequency, the system softlocks on a blackscreen, ramping up system fans to 100% speed and displays no output on the monitor. One has to manually shut off the system for the RAM frequency changes to go into effect.
2) Despite extensively digging through the user manual, contacting ASUS support, and tweaking with BIOS PCIe settings, I could not manage to get the lowest PCIe slot (when the board is installed vertically) to be visible to the motherboard under any circumstances. Perhaps the lowest PCIe slot is dead, but according to the manual, the way ASUS configures the X870E chipset on this board, apparently, this ‘shutting off’ of the PCIe slot is BY DESIGN… but because I was unable to figure out how to enable it so that I could move my PCIe WiFi/Bluetooth card into that slot (yes, I KNOW this board comes in with build in WiFi antennae, but I prefer to use my PCIe WiFi card), this slot is as good as dead for future connectivity, such as additional USB 3.0 ports or a dedicated sound card. I was very disappointed with this.
3) The fact that the motherboard did not seem to recognize that it had basic WiFi drivers when I installed Windows 11 on it at first was really obnoxious. This motherboard’s Armoury Crate and MyASUS software *should* have recognized the fact that the system sought a WiFi internet connection and configured the drivers to work out of box instead of requiring ME, the end user, to use my driverless USB WiFi drive to find and install the appropriate drivers.

Of the good features on this board, the PCIe slide quick-disconnect latch IS a very nice addition, at least on the closest x16 slot to the CPU. It makes removing my enormous graphics card task a lot easier than on older ASUS motherboards, so that is a plus.

Another thing to note about this board (and this is not ASUS’ fault, nor is it AMD’s fault) – a lot of PCIe Wifi cards, particularly of the Intel AX variety, may be only compatible with Intel chipset motherboards and CPUs. The “FENVi WiFi 6E AX210 PCI-E Network Card, BT5.3, 160MHz Tri-Band, 6GHz/5GHz/2.4GHz, 5400Mbps, AX210ngw Desktop PC Wireless Adapter, 802.11ax, MU-MIMO, for Windows 11/10” WiFi/Bluetooth card I got for myself IS compatible with this board, although be sure to install Intel’s driver update software application onto your Windows system to ensure that drivers are functioning as intended.

ALSO, if you plan to overclock an X3D chip on this system, I HIGHLY recommend getting extra CPU PSU cable for this motherboard, as it has two CPU PSU connector sockets.
